In the historic marina of Zeebrugge, the old fish market and the former maritime museum Seafront are being transformed into a new, dynamic environment.
The temporary refurbishment of the old fish market is intended to prevent lack of occupation and serve as a connection. A metamorphosis tailored to create an enjoyable seaport that meets tomorrow’s challenges.
The marina’s history is extensively represented in the new Seafront. Both the history of the harbour quays as the surrounding establishments form a valuable structure that will flourish again.
For a period of 20 years, the former fish market was used as a maritime museum and was visited by a very broad audience. Visitors were enchanted by everything that used to happen there, and what life at sea and in the harbour looked like during, before and after the war. Although the museum is now closed, the old fish market has found a new trendy purpose.
